How did the ancient Ilercavones face death? What beliefs and rituals accompanied their final journey into the afterlife? At L'Argilaga, we invite you to explore the funerary world of the Iron Age through an immersive experience combining experimental archaeology, history and the reenactment of ancient rituals.
The Final Journey. Death and Ritual in Ilercavonia is an event dedicated to exploring the funerary beliefs and practices of the ancient Ilercavones, the communities that inhabited these lands during the Iron Age.
In the morning, participants will take part in an experimental workshop on traditional wool spinning, an activity linked to the spindle whorls found in certain burial assemblages, inviting us to reflect on their possible symbolic significance.
In the afternoon, L'Argilaga will become the setting for a historical reenactment of a funeral, offering an insight into the rituals, gestures and beliefs surrounding death and the afterlife.
An interactive experience that brings us closer to the past, allows us to explore ancient techniques firsthand and reveals how archaeology helps us understand life and death in ancient communities.
