A guided experience to discover the living history of the medieval city.
Let our experts guide you and discover the history behind every stone.
We will start at the Puerta de San Miguel, the main entrance to the old town, and from there we will delve into the medieval layout of the city.
Our first stop will be the Casa de la Vila or Town Hall, an imposing 15th-century building that represented the civil power of the time. We will continue to the old Jewish quarter, a charming corner that will transport us back to a time when different cultures, trades and traditions coexisted.
We will stroll through the nerve centre of the city, the porticoed street, where the bustling social life of locals and visitors concentrates as they enjoy its shops and sample the delights of this land in its restaurants and bars. If you come on a Sunday, you can also visit the food market, which has been held since the 13th century.
Next, we will head to the viewpoint, where we will contemplate the landscape surrounding the fortified enclosure. From this privileged vantage point, you will learn about the historical evolution of the castle, its defensive characteristics and the most notable events that took place there. Those who wish to do so can then climb up on their own, now knowing part of its history.
The tour ends with a detailed visit to the Archpriestal Basilica of Santa María la Mayor, a true jewel of Mediterranean Gothic architecture. Its choir, raised on four columns and unique in the world, preserves figures with their original polychromy, alongside a splendid altar and a Baroque organ of great artistic value.
And if you're still curious, we invite you to continue exploring the quieter, lesser-known streets on your own. There you'll discover surprising corners, the living essence of the city... and perhaps a few more stories to tell.
