LA NUCÍA CYCLING
La Nucía Cycling is much more than a sporting event: it is a unique cycling experience that transforms La Nucía, City of Sport, into the epicentre of international cycling for a weekend full of excitement, spectacle and passion for cycling. An event where the elite, legends and amateurs come together in the privileged setting of the Costa Blanca.
LA NUCÍA INTERNATIONAL CRITERIUM
The weekend kicks off with the La Nucía International Criterium, a vibrant, intense and spectacular urban race, designed to be enjoyed both inside and outside the circuit. Speed, technique and proximity to the protagonists make each lap a real spectacle for the public.
The highlight of the Criterium is the now traditional Duel, a unique event that combines sport and entertainment. In 2024, the Duel saw Mathieu Van der Poel take on a rally driver in a challenge that captured international attention. In 2025, Isaac del Toro takes up the baton, starring in a new duel against a rally driver that promises to surprise once again.
The experience is rounded off by the presence of cycling legends such as Alejandro Valverde, Pedro Delgado and Samuel Sánchez, who turn the Criterium into a real party, close, exciting and difficult to replicate in any other setting.
GRAN FONDO LA NUCÍA – UCI WORLD SERIES
The highlight of the weekend is the UCI Gran Fondo World Series La Nucía, a race that will make its debut in the UCI World Series circuit in 2025, positioning itself as an international benchmark event from its very first edition.
A demanding and spectacular 132 km route with 2,275 metres of elevation gain runs through the mountainous interior of the Costa Blanca, linking quiet roads, charming villages and some of the most iconic mountain passes in European cycling. The decisive moment comes with the time trial climb to Coll de Rates, a legendary ascent where every cyclist can test themselves in one of the most renowned settings in the world.
In addition, the event is a qualifier for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, offering participants the opportunity to experience authentic international competition and fight for a ticket to the World Championships.
